Re: motorbiking in the snow
I followed him down our street to make sure i could give him a hand picking it up if he came off, about 3 inches of snow here and much much worse further inland. The main roads are drivable at the mo but who knows what it will be like by the time he gets to england. Its a brand new bike too . I wouldnt risk it

Re: motorbiking in the snow
I'd like to try it on a dirt bike but I'd never take my baby out in the snow for such a long ride, especially when it can be icy too.

Re: motorbiking in the snow
It was bad today.
I got stuck in a snow blizzard, but got out after wobbling all over the sleet and ice.
Some learners behind me weren't faring so well. They were almost crashing into cars when filtering. Not a good day to be caught out riding.

You must be kidding. London has 2 gritters covering the whole area on the M25 belt!
It pummelled down at 3.30pm relentlessly and all the dual carriageways and motorways were completely caked in frozen snow and ice. The cars couldn't even shift up the slight slopes and there were so many crashes here. 3 dead on the A20; jack-knife lorry on the M25; sealed off A25 due to the fog; overturned vehicle on the North Circular Road...the list goes on.
The main roads all have the slush puppy stuff where you filter down the middle of the vehicles. One slip and you could end up carooming into either a passing vehicle or parked car. Saw so many bikers close to dropping it and a few who did. So many silly "L" plate riders out today in their anoraks and jeans getting completely soaked to the bone in -1 degree C. Just crazy.
It took me 3 hours on the bike to get back without dropping it. All in first gear!

Re: motorbiking in the snow
I would have been in 5th morgan
Yes Will...sideways - carooming down the dual carriageway.
It was bad today. It's always bad when fresh snow falls on roads which have no gritting done. Very poor planning here.
Complete grid-lock. Only the numptie scooters were chancing it and finding themselves crashing into the sides of cars as their wheel slippage caught
them out.

Re: motorbiking in the snow
Its the roads fault really cause its bowed, higher in the middle then the edges so if it was perfectly flat i would of been alright

Re: motorbiking in the snow
It is awesome!
Took my mates 250 2t out for a blast when it was still fresh, was a great day
I dont think people are mad to go out in it, if you need to be somewhere, you need to go!
My bike would be my only transport, so I would just go, don't think about it. lol
Its great fun when enjoyed responsibly, but when hooning wildly/dangerously, I call it quits.
